Decision expected in Spring, 2000 concerning options for construction of a fixed link across the Fehmarn Strait between Denmark and Germany. Proposals range over a variety of bridges and bored and immersed tubes for road and rail. 19.9 km-long twin-tube bored railway tunnel costing $3.35bn most likely, with a construction time of 7 years.
