Poyry has been awarded contracts worth EUR 9.2 million by VERBUND-Austrian Hydro Power AG (AHP) for engineering services and site supervision during construction of the Reisseck II pumped storage plant from June 2010 until completion in third quarter 2014. Reisseck II will connect two existing plants: Reisseck-Kreuzeck storage power plant; and Malta power plant main stage. The existing Reisseck-Kreuzeck reservoir will be used as upper reservoir with Malta main stage providing the lower reservoir. A 5 km-long power tunnel and pressure shaft will be developed to the powerhouse cavern, where two sets of reversible 215 kW Francis-pump turbines will be located. The downstream connection involves a 203 m-long pressure tunnel. Click here for more. 26/10.
