Following a competitive tendering process Yurringa Energy awarded the contract to deliver 137.5 GWh of renewable electricity during the construction of the North East Link road tunnels, suppling 100% green energy to the Spark North East Link Design & Construct Joint Venture (Spark NEL D&C JV, or Spark). The renewable energy will be used to power large site compounds for the project, and the massive TBMs, which will soon begin their journey helping dig the 6.5 km of three-lane twin road tunnels from Watsonia to Bulleen to provide the missing transport link between the M80 and the Eastern Freeway.
