The consortium consisting of Porr, Gulermak and Energopol-Szczecin signed the EUR150.31million contract for the design and construction of the Świnoujście tunnel . Once the tunnel is completed in the autumn of 2022 it will provide a direct connection between Uznam and the Polish mainland.

The total length of the project is approximately 3.2 km. This includes a 1.44 km TBM-excavation using the slurry shield procedure. The breakout diameter of the tunnel will be 13.5 m. A two-way roadway will be constructed with traffic lanes with a width of 3.5 m and evacuation niches will be built using ground freezing. Astaldi Group (99,9%) and Ghella (0,01%) have been awarded the EUR 139 million contract for the construction design and building by TBM of  a 1.5 km tunnel, under the River  to link road to the islands of Uznam and Wolin to Swinoujscie. The contract includes the construction of a 860 m cut-and-cover tunnel, the installation of all E&M systems and related works. SWS has been awarded the €150 million contract for the final and detailed design of the road tunnel under the Swina river between the islands of Uznam and Wolin in Swinoujscie (Poland), near the German border, this is a project co-funded by the EU.
