World first - Herrenknecht EPB drives from Europe to AsiaGerman manufacturer Herrenknecht has reported the successful breakthrough of its 6.11 m-diameter EPB on the new 3.4 km-long Melen 7 water tunnel beneath the Bosphorus linking the European and Asian sections of Istanbul in Turkey.This is the first mechanically excavated tunnel beneath the Bosphorus, and qualifies for the tunnelbuilder Hall of Fame.
