Work resumes on Cesana tunnel

Work resumes on Cesana tunnelItalian road agency ANAS has approved the technical variations needed to resume work at the 1,840 m-long Cesana tunnel on the SS 24 at Monginevro, in Turin province. Construction originally started in May, 2005, but was interrupted in October, 2006 because of the discovery of traces of asbestos in the strata. Work will restart in May, 2009, and completion of the remaining troublesome 106 m will take two years and an investment of EUR36.8 million.
