Villa Vomano-Teramo section of A24 commissionedThe dualling of the Villa Vomano-Teramo section of Italy's A24 Tirrano-Adriatic highway, together with the 826 m-long Carestia tunnel, was completed on 28th April, 2009. Contractor Toto SpA suffered three roof collapses while excavating the new 173 sq m tube, which is parallel and at 40 m from the existing tunnel. The carriageway accommodates two 3.75 m-wide lanes, a 3 m-wide emergency lane, and a 0.70 m-wide left sidewalk. For more in Italian click here. 21/09.
