TBM starts Maddalena survey tunnel

On 12.11.2013 TBM excavation started for the Maddalena survey tunnel in Chiomonte on the Lyon-Turin line. TBM parts were brought to site on 131 abnormal loads over the period July to September.

The 385 t, 2,205 KW, 200 m-long Robbins TBM has a cutting head equipped with 42 off 19 in-diameter cutters to tackle the 7.3 km drive over the coming two years. Click here for a video, here, fr/11 and it/80 for tunnel builder archive. Visit www.ltf-sas.com. 47/13.
