Webuild confirmed the second breakthrough, a key step in the excavation and structural completion of this 3.3‑km tunnel — one of the most technically significant structures along the new route.

The SS106 upgrade is one of Italy’s most important infrastructure programmes, designed to transform mobility along the Ionian coasts of Calabria, Basilicata and Puglia. Once complete, the new corridor will:

• Strengthen regional connectivity between the A14 and A2 motorways
• Reduce travel times and enhance road safety
• Support economic development and tourism across Southern Italy
