Robbins Receives Two TBM orders for Dahuofang Water Transfer Project in ChinaIn the first half of 2004, Robbins received an order for two 8 m open TBMs for the Duhuofang water transfer in Liaoning province. The machines are intended for two separate customers, one for Beijing Vibrofloatation Engineering Company and the other for Liaoning Bureau of Water Conservancy and Hydroelectric Power Construction.The order, which is one of Robbins largest ever in China, was placed through China International Tendering Company. The total supply includes 2 TBMs, backup systems, complete conveyor systems, cutters, spares and technical support for the duration. The contract calls for final assembly in China, with all key components imported. Robbins will manufacture the cutterheads, power units, and other items in their Solon, Ohio facility. The main structural components and final assembly will be done at Dalian Heavy Industrial in Liaoning province.The key imported components will be delivered to China in stages. To date, the first shipments have been made and have arrived safely. Fabrication of major steel components in China is currently on schedule.
