Matt Palmer, Executive Director Lower Thames Crossing, said:
“We welcome the government's ongoing commitment to the Lower Thames Crossing, which is designed to ease congestion on the Dartford Crossing and drive economic growth by improving journey times and creating a reliable new connection between ports and manufacturing centres.
“Following the most comprehensive programme of consultation and engagement ever undertaken for a UK road scheme, which has shown 80% support the need for the crossing, our proposals will soon be examined in detail by the government’s independent planning authority to ensure the best outcome for local communities and the environment.
“We will continue to work with the government to provide the best possible value for money and deliver this nationally significant infrastructure project as soon as possible.” For further information in the tunnelbuilder archive please click uk/91 and also click here.
