The Union Cabinet has approved the Mumbai Metro Line-3 Colaba-Bandra-Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ) corridor. It has also approved conversion of the State level Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) – Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) into a Joint Venture Company of the Government of India (GoI) and Government of Maharashtra (GoM), with equity participation on a 50:50 basis. The total cost of the project is estimated at EUR3 billion for an underground length of 33.5 km with 27 stations from Colaba to SEEPZ. The gauge would be standard gauge, as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR). Work is planned to begin in 2013 for completion in 2019. Visit http://pib.nic.in. 27/13.
