Mumbai - Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR)

On 11.09.2017
a ceremony was held for the start works for First High Speed Train Project (popularly referred to as the Bullet Train) between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The actual works will begin on 14.09.2017. The line will be 508 km long through two states (Maharashtra for 156 km and Gujarat for 351 km) and the UT (Union Territory) of Dadra and Nagar Haveli for 2 km.
The most part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail corridor will be
elevated, with a 21 km tunnel with a 7 km undersea stretch after Thane creek towards Virar. The MAHSR will include 12 stations at Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati. The Maximum Design Speed- 350 km/h with a Maximum Operating speed of 320 km/h.
