Mont Sion tunnel opens to trafficThe north stretch of the A41 highway between Villy-le-Pelloux/Saint-Martin-Bellevue and Saint-Julien-en-Genevois in the Upper Savoy region of the French Alps, including the 3.1 km-long twin tube Mont Sion tunnel, opened on 22.12.2008. The section took 28 months to construct and, with the Rumilly-Annecy Nord section, will form the new Liane highway in Upper Savoy, shortening the travel time between Annecy and Geneva from two hours to less than half an hour.
