Marti Technik to Supply Conveyor Belt for Castle Peak Cable Tunnel in Hong KongSwitzerland's Marti Technik has been contracted by Dragages Hong Kong to supply a conveyor belt for the Castle Peak cable tunnel to be built for CLP Power Hong Kong in a steep slope area of the New Territories in Hong Kong. Visit www.martitechnik.ch The conveyor belt is composed of two different pieces after the TBM conveyor and will be installed gradually in a 4.5 km-long 5.2 m-outer diameter tunnel. There is also a 35 m stacker conveyor. A noticeable feature will be the return drum positioned 200 metres ahead of the last trailing gear. The production capacity of the system will be 370 tonnes/hour. The installed power is 400 kW. The belt storage will have a capacity of 250 metres. This is a system by which the belt advances automatically as the TBM progresses. When the belt reserve is nearly finished, the belt is cut and a new 500 m reserve (for the top run belt and return run belt) is installed in the belt storage so that the TBM is able to advance a further 250 metres. The belt will cross a -35 m level difference in the mountainous area of Castle Peak (583 m), west of the New Territories. The belt will be installed behind a Herrenknecht double shield hard rock TBM. The machine features the following characteristics: weight of approx. 1,100 tonnes, total installed main drive power of 1,750 kW, total installed power of 3,300 kW, 10.9 max. rpm per minute, maximum thrust force in double-shield mode of 1,600 tonnes and 2,600 tonnes in single-shield mode.
