Lovat TBM Breaks Through Upper Reach Tunnel of NEIS - us/29The Traylor / J. F. Shea / Frontier Kemper / Kenny joint venture broke through on 16th July the 3.3 km Upper Reach tunnel of the North East Interceptor Sewer in Los Angeles. The JV used a 3.86 m-diameter Lovat TBM model RMP152SE Series 20900 to drive the tunnel beneath a densely developed area, northeast of Los Angeles. The machine crunched its way predominantly through rock, erecting a precast segmental bolted and gasketed lining. The concrete rings are 1.372 m long. Best day was 29 rings. The Upper Reach tunnel runs from Humboldt Street to Division Street and is one of three sections of the 8.5 km tunnel alignment. Visit www.lovat.com 34/04.
