On the 10/10/2022 the inauguration ceremony for the last section of Athens metro line 3 extension was held in the Dimotiko Theatro Station in the city of Piraeus. The tunnel is 3.5 km long and was built between Nikaia and the Dimotiko Theatro of Piraeus with 3 new additional stations called Maniatika, Piraeus and Dimotiko Theatro.
Once the metro line 3 is fully opened they will expect 132,000 passengers a day which will reduce the amount of private vehicles on the road by 23,000 and carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 70 tons on a daily basis.
The entire EUR 730 million project comprises a 7.55 km long tunnel, the three stations that were handed over to the public on 10/10/2022 (Phase B) and a further three new stations (Aghia Vavara, Korydallos, Nikea Stations) commissioned on 06/07/2022 (Phase A),
