Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a S$326 million contract for the construction of tunnels as part of the Downtown Line (DTL) extension, which will connect the existing DTL to the North–South Line (NSL).
The contract covers the design and construction of bored tunnels and associated underground works required to facilitate the new interchange connection, strengthening rail connectivity within Singapore’s central rail network.
Construction works are expected to commence in the second quarter of 2026. Upon completion, the DTL extension will enhance network resilience and improve passenger transfers between the two major MRT lines. Passenger service on the extended section is targeted to begin in 2035.
The project forms part of LTA’s long-term rail expansion programme aimed at supporting future transport demand and improving accessibility across the island. For further information please click here. 02/26.
