Herrenknecht EPB passes Sagrada Familia in BarcelonaBy 20.10.2010, Herrenknecht EPB Barcino excavating at 34 m depth had completed 1,980 m of the Sants-La Sagrera tunnel for the Madrid-Barcelona-French border high-speed line. The stretch running close to the sensitive Sagrada Familia monument was negotiated without disturbing the surface or groundwater level. Some 7,700 segments were installed into the lining of this section for a total of 1,100 rings.The TBM, which started on 26.03.2010, will drive 5.1 km of the 5.6 km tunnel between Sants and La Sagrera, and will then be withdrawn through the shaft located between Provence and Entenca calle.
