On 20.10.2014 construction of Grand St Bernard safety tunnel (GSS) restarted, following agreement with the old contractor JV Condotte that only 11 of 23 cross passages originally intended will be built, and Sitrasb SpA will pay JV Condotte EUR9.89 million. After restoring the security (electric and ventilation equipment) in the safety tunnel, laser scanner technology will be used to check the status of the carboniferous area in the GSS, where some sections are not lined with segments or may be affected by a significant misalignment of the segments.
