On November 6, 2023, a significant milestone was reached as the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) named Houda successfully broke through, marking its entry into the future Sevran - Livry station on Line 6 of the Grand Paris Express. This achievement is of great importance as it signifies the connection of all 10 stations on Line 16 through the intricate network of tunnels.
Following the breakthrough, the TBM is poised to continue its journey by tunnelling through a 57-meter stretch within the Sevran – Livry station. It will then proceed to cover the remaining 770 meters, leading to its exit shaft, located at Mare au Chanvre in Livry-Gargan. This accomplishment represents the culmination of an extensive excavation process that includes the 11 kilometers of Lot 2 and the entire 29-kilometer tunnel network of Line 16.
Houda commenced its tunnelling mission from the launch shaft, situated in Aulnay-sous-Bois, back in November 2020, with the goal of excavating a 5.8-kilometer section of Line 16. Along the way, the TBM successfully navigated through the breakthroughs of several future stations, including Aulnay - Val Francilia, Sevran - Beaudottes, and in Sevran.
This remarkable feat represents a significant step forward in the ambitious Grand Paris Express project, which aims to revolutionize the transportation infrastructure in the Greater Paris area. With each breakthrough, the project inches closer to its goal of enhancing connectivity and accessibility for the region's residents and visitors.
