In 2008 the Swiss Parliament approved the allocation of EUR4.46 billion (CHF5.4 billion) for the SIF programme for improvement of more than 100 projects. Agreement has recently been reached with railway operator SBB for the implementation of eleven SIF projects, total value EUR660 million (CHF800 million). The main project is the expansion to four tracks of Aarau-Olten section, including construction of the 3.6 km-long Eppenberg tunnel. Click ch/58.
