In the Mexican state of Jalisco, the 5.5 km central section of the Guadalajara metro’s new Line 3, between La Normal and Plaza de la Bandera stations, will be driven by a TBM EPB for almost 4 km.

The TBM EPB 10.40 m inside diameter, 11.55 m outside diameter, 95 m length, 1200 ton weight, is the same one used to drive the high speed railway Sagrada Familia underground section, in Barcelona. The last TBM’s pieces arrived in August 2015 from Valencia (Spain). It was delivered to the Manzanillo harbour in Colima municipality.

The 220 parts of the TBM were lowered into the well , from where the TBM will be launched once assembly is complete. It will install 2080 rings with 6+1 segments sealed with ES Rubber TunnelFlex 33 G gaskets, 20 mm height, with 90° Soft corners. Water pressures will be up to 2,6 bars.
