The construction of the 665 km East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project has recorded overall progress of 28.57 %. The percentage includes construction works in four states, namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Selangor.
The project will be fully completed by December 2026 and it will be fully up and running in January 2027 with a 5.6 million passengers a year target for passengers.
For Kelantan the ECRL alignment is 43.86km and the progress of infrastructure works has reached 21.58 % and the land acquisition process for the main part has been fully completed. The construction work of the 16.39km twin bore Genting Tunnel from Pahang to Selangor will begin in May. After complicated installation and testing for several months, the TBM is ready to start.
The Genting Tunnel excavation process involving 10km in Pahang and another 6 km in Selangor is expected to take 2.5 years with a productivity rate of approximately 400 to 600 m per month.
