Press Release:- On February 1st, the "Channel Express", a Slurry TBM that was manufactured and shipped by CRCHI to Singapore was launched successfully following a ceremony. The TBM had been created for a key water supply tunnel project in Singapore.
The project connects the Singapore Tuas Water Reclamation Plant to Jurong Island through a sub-sea TBM tunnel, which is one of the key infrastructure projects of Singapore's National Water Agency. The tunnel crosses under the seabed for a long distance and will encounter high water pressure. In addition, it passes through mudstone, siltstone and sandstone for an extended part of the way and the TBM will deal with high rock strength. To add to this complex drive there are indications that there may be a fracture zone in the tunnel section.
According to the characteristics of the project, the "Channel Express" TBM is equipped with advanced technologies such as:
- a high-pressure main drive seal
- jaw+roller two stage stone crushing
- synchronous bi-component grouting,
- slurry circulation anti-blocking system
The telescopic camera device, which is a first to be used in the Singapore tunnel project, will provide video monitoring of the main bearing and the excavation chamber. The intelligent excavation management system can monitor the excavation volume in real time.
