CIPE funds new lines

On 08.03.2013 CIPE approved the final design for the first phase of technological and infrastructural alignment of the Battipaglia-Reggio Calabria railway in Italy, amount EUR157.4 million. Funding is secured with resources PON 2007-2013 for operations located in Calabria, with RFI resources for Campania and Basilicata works. Click it/179 for tunnelbuilder archive.

The CIPE also took note of the information given by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport about Line 1 subway extension project in Naples: Centro Direzionale - Capodichino section.

The new section will include four stations (Centro direzionale, Poggioreale, Tribunale and Capodichino) and 3.5 km of tunnels. Estimated cost EUR820 million.

At Capodichino, it will connect with the Piscinola-Capodichino line, in concession to the Region with Eav-MetroCampania NordEst, in order to complete the rail ring.

The Centro Direzionale–Poggioreale section, surrounding to the Circumvesuviana line, will be construct partly by open cut.
