In Argentina, Mr Juan Pablo Piccardo, president of SBASE (Subterraneos de Buenos Aires Sociedad del Estado) announced that the Buenos Aires authority will launch this year a EUR624-713 million tender to build the first stage of driverless metro Line F from Constitution Plaza Callao to Santa Fe. Works will begin in 2016 and take four years. By law 670, dated 2001, the alignment of Line F has to be from Constitution Plaza Callao to Plaza Italia after a Systra project proposed to divert the line to Law University, with the interchange with the future line H. The alignment of the second part of line F is still to be chosen.
The line will be served by seven-car trains operating at 90 second intervals to serve up to 500,000 passengers/day. It will employ communications-based train control (CBTC) and platform screen doors. Visit www.sbase.com.ar. 18/15.
