Atlas Copco Introduces New COP 2238 Rock Drill

Atlas Copco Introduces New COP 2238 Rock DrillAtlas Copco is introducing COP 2238, a new 22 kW hydraulic rock drill for the hole range 51-76 mm. The rock drill is intended for drifting and tunnelling as well as for extension drilling. Thanks to Atlas Copco's well-proven dual-damping system, the new COP 2238 ensures that the drill bit maintains constant contact with the rock, re-tightening the drill-string joints between each impact. This technology allows the rock drill to operate at a consistently high impact frequency resulting in a higher penetration rate, even during extension drilling of probe or grout holes. In addition, the damping system absorbs the excessive energy from each impact which reduces wear on both the rock drill itself as well as the drill string which lowers operating costs. It's the inside that counts. A dual-damping system and a long and slender piston for optimal shock waves are two features of the new COP 2238 from Atlas Copco The COP 2238 is easy to service as several wear parts can be easily replaced without having to demount the rock drill from the drill rig. Another important advantage is that the COP 2238 has many parts in common with the COP 1838-series which gives the potential for the user to reduce on-site inventories. The COP 2238 can be used with both short and long shank adapter. Types of threads are R32, R38 and T38. Four different rotation motors are also to choose from. This makes the rock drill just as suitable for extension drilling as for drifting.
