The Joint Venture Puentes y Calzadas Infraestructuras SL (45%), Rover Infraestructuras SA (45%) and Geotunel SL (10%) secured the EUR234.12 million contract, excluding VAT, for the construction of the 7.9km Valle del Genil section, part of the 19 km Loja Bypass on the Antequera–Granada high-speed line. The Valle del Genil section includes the Cerro de los Limones tunnel (1,295 m), the longest in the Loja Bypass, and two viaducts measuring 794 m and 693 m. The Loja Bypass will reduce travel times on rail connections to Granada, thanks to a new double-track and high-speed alignment. Veidekke has been commissioned by the Swedish Transport Administration to execute a so-called critical contract on the Korsvägen section of Gothenburg’s West Link rail project. The contract will be carried out over a limited period, on an ongoing basis. Veidekke has now been commissioned to protect the work site and perform critical production in the Korsvägen, Skår and Almedal part of the section.

The Swedish Transport Administration recently terminated the agreement with the contractor WLC (Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG and NCC Sverige AB) encharged to build the Korsvägen section for major cost increases, and delays in the contract.The Swedish Transport Administration conducted several reviews over the past five years to obtain explanations from the contractor and its  latest review showed systematic shortcomings and errors.

The contract for Korsvägen section, part of  West Link (Vastlanken) in Gothenburg, includes the construction of a 3.2 km section with an underground station and its train tunnel, connecting in the north to the Haga contract and in the south to existing tracks on the West Coast Line and Borasbanan. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Board awarded to Connect Plus Partners (Connect+) a consortium formed by Halmar International, US subsidiary of Itinera - EPC contractor of the ASTM Group, and the Spanish company FCC Construction, the EUR1.78 bn (USD1.97 bn) contract for Phase 2 of the Second Avenue Subway, in New York City. 

The contract includes the conversion of a 762-m tunnel, built in the 1970s between 116th and 125th Streets, into a station; the excavation of a 1,250 m bi-tube tunnel with an internal diameter of 6.1 m to Malcolm X Boulevard between 35 and 120 feet below Second Avenue, using two TBMs ; the excavation of the cavern for the future 125th Street station, as well as the excavation of shafts for auxiliary buildings and future accesses. 

Early work will commence later this year, with heavy civil construction starting in early 2026 and the tunnel boring itself expected to begin in 2027.
