Aquatic Sciences Inc. (ASI) reports that it has assisted with the successful completion of emergency repair work on the pressure equalization piping at the Sabana Yegua Dam for the Corporacií³n Dominicana de Electricidad (CDE) in the Dominican Republic. A control valve had been seriously damaged while operating under emergency conditions during Hurricane Georges. Further damage to the dam itself and the potential for serious flooding of the valley downstream required an effective and immediate solution. ASI used a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to insert a sealing plug from within the flooded tunnel, allowing CDE personnel to remove the piping and permanently weld a cap over the system downstream.
