Pinchat railway tunnel breakthrough

The final wall of the 2.1 km Pinchat tunnel came down on the 10/08/201. The tunnel is 30 meters below the Route de Troinex, creating the connection between Carouge-Bachet and Val d'Arve, on the railway line Cornavin- Eaux-Vives-Annemasse (CEVA). Work had begun in November 2011, and during the first year on the construction of  the access tunnel, the Bachet shafts and the cover section of route Carouge started but will need a further year and half to complete.

The CEVA line will include another tunnel, the 1630m Champel tunnel, which includes the  Champel-Hôpital station, at a 10-30 m depth and a 10 m diameter. The tunnel will be built from the North access Eaux-Vives station and link with the South entrance point  which will connect at the bridge over the river Arve.
