It comprises 2 x 9,260 metres of single-track bored tunnels, in circular and horseshoe-shaped cross-sections, about 200 metres of cut-and-cover tunnel, and two single-track underpasses of approx. 450 m. The Filder tunnel connects lots PFA 1.1 and PFA 1.6a with lot PFA 1.3. The tunnel crosses different geological layers, in particular rock formations consisting predominantly of gypsum-bearing rock and anhydrite.Lot PFA 1.6a mainly contains also two single-track tunnels with a circular cross-section and the connection to the Stuttgart Untertuerkheim railway yard. The route length is 6.3 km from the central station to Stuttgart Obertuerkheim and Stuttgart Untertuerkheim.Lot PFA 1.6b is for a new railway yard in Stuttgart Untertuerkheim and associated technical facilities for maintenance.
