The consortium of Pöyry, Cal y Mayor and Geoconsult were selected in October, 2009 to provide consultancy services and conceptual design for the first line metro in Panama City. The turnkey contract includes civil works and rolling stock, plus the maintenance depot and operations control centre. Estimated cost USD1-1.5 billion. The 14 km-long Line 1 alignment starts at Los Andes in the north of the city, and terminates at the main transport hub in Albrook, and includes 7 km of tunnel. There are 16 stations, of which 11 will be underground. Successful consortia will be invited to submit offers by 24.05.2010 for the design, construction and fitting out of Line 1. A preferred bidder is due to be named on 25.06.2010, with the contract signing set for 23.07.2010 for construction completion by 31.12.2013. Poyry has been awarded a EUR2.1 million contract to provide specialized technical assistance to the project management consortium designing and constructing Line 1 of Panama metro, the first to be built in Central America. Poyry earlier advised on basic design, bidding and support during the award process. The completed metro line will be 13.7 km-long, with 7 km underground and 5 km elevated, and will have 11 stations. At the end of May 2021 Metro de Panama opened the offers received  from four groups for the design and basic details  for the tunnel of Metro line 3 to be built below the Panama Canal. The tunnel will be 5.3km long, with a 13 m diameter and at a 65 m maximum depth. The Consortium Tunel de Las Americas, composed of Tecnica y Proyectos  SA (Typsa) and Louis Berger LAC, obtained the best rating with a EUR11.02 million (USD9.86 million/PAB9.86 million) offer. But the consortiums Aecom-Sener Tunel Linea 3 and Ayesa-ILF  objected and sent their observations to the authority. The South Korean HPH Joint Venture, composed of Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co, POSCO and Hyundai Engineering Co have granted to China Railway Tunnel Group (CRTG) the excavation by TBM of the 5.3 km underwater section between the Panama Pacífico and Albrook stations of the Metro Line 3 in Panama. The tunnel will be built under the Panama Canal, on the Pacific side. Work on Phase 1 - the 25km, 14 station section from Albrook to Ciudad del Futuro - commenced in February 2022 and it is expected to be opened in 2026. 

The Panama metro line 3 will be 34km-long and mostly elevated monorail line. It will establish a connection between Panama City and major urban centres in the province of Panama Oeste such as Arraijan and at Phase 2, La Chorrera. Visit https://www.elmetrodepanama.com. 35/23.

Call for expressions of interest, deadline 20th April, 2007 for engineering services for the construction, supervision and management of the second stage of the Panama City and Bay of Panama sewage project. The consultant will be needed to help analyze proposals from firms bidding to carry out works for this phase, which will include the construction of a 7 km wastewater interceptor tunnel, as well as a wastewater treatment plant and pumping station in the Juan Diaz municipality, immediately outside of capital Panama City. These works will be awarded in two separate contracts, one for the interceptor tunnel, and another for the treatment plant and pumping station, both slated for awarding by year-end. After these expressions of intent are received, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) will evaluate the proposals and come up with a short list of companies to be submitted to project backer, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for approval. The JBIC recently signed an agreement with Minsa for a USD167 million loan to fund this phase of the project. The services will last for eight years from the second semester of the year, when construction of the tunnel and treatment plant is scheduled to commence. The tunnel will be a turnkey project so that the diameter, depth and tunnelling methodology details can still change. However, some details will be given in the prequalification notices scheduled within the next 60 days. Breakthrough of $17 million, 3 km-long, 1.6 m i.d. Itay sewer tunnel announced on 30th June, 2000 as first-ever TBM-driven tunnel in Paraguay. Tunnel supported by 2 m i.d. x 0.61 m segmental primary lining with curved bolts and hydrophilic gaskets and 180 mm-thick in-situ concrete final lining. 3 off 5.5 m-diameter access shafts and 11 off 3.5 m-diameter intermediate shafts to maximum depth of 30 m. Unideutsch 2.4 m-diameter EPB achieved best performance of 743 rings/month and 35 rings/24 h day. Overall scheme value $90 million also includes new treatment plant, long river outfall, and 450 km of collector sewers funded by World Bank, European Investment Bank and Paraguayan government. Electric Power Company of the South (Egesur) has awarded the EUR102 million contract to build the Moquegua 1 and 3 hydroelectric power plants in Peru, which have a total installed capacity of 34 MW, to the consortium composed of Sacyr (Spain) and GCZ Ingenieros (Perù).

Duration of the contract is 30 months. The Moquegua 1 project a hydroelectric power plant (CHM1) will be 15.3 MW of power. This project will include connection work with the current Huaracane channel, a conduit of 8,360 m, with three tunnels totalling 1,800 m in length, the engine house, the electric substation and the transport line.

The Moquegua 3 project (CHM3), is to supply 18.7 MW of power, and includes a water intake on the Sajena creek, a conduit of 7,211 m, with a tunnel of nearly 2,660 m, a machine room and unloading works to the Sajena ravine. In addition, an electrical substation and a transport line will be also built.

Integral project tender with prequalification, deadline 15th June, 2008 for design, build, operate and maintain contract under a 30-year concession for the Huascacocha-Rimac water project in Junin department, located between 4,200 m and 4,800 m asl. This project is necessary to convey raw waters from the Mantaro river basin to the Marca III system and then to the Santa Eulalia river basin. It will transfer water from the Huascacocha lagoon to the Rimac river. The owner is the Ministry of housing, construction and sewage. The project includes a 3 km tunnel, 2.5 m wide and 3.5 m high (the upper part features a 1.25 m radius). The geology is volcanic rock of the Calipuy formation.
