Los Angeles Purple Line updates

18/05/2017

On the 25.04.2017 the Los Angeles Metro held a pre-proposal conference for the Section 3 tunnel contract. They are using an innovative approach by delivering the stations and tunnels separately for the third Section of the Purple Line Extension. The last leg from Century City to the Veterans Administration campus is 2.59 miles long and will include a stop at Wilshire/Westwood and the VA.

On the 25.04.2017 LA Metro gave its Section 2 contractor, Tutor Perini/O&G, Notice to Proceed on the contract awarded in January. Tutor Perini/O&G can now start its design work on the tunnels and stations, as well as start developing schedules for major activities, including decking, piling, and building demolition.

On the 18.05.2017 a Construction Community Meeting will be held for Section 1. Excavation of the La Brea Station which is approximately one-third completed. The finished station will be 1,000 feet long, 80 feet wide and 60 feet deep. Jet grouting reinforces the roof of the upcoming tunnel that will connect the Wilshire/Western Station with the new stations at Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega. The Purple Line Extension team anticipates the station will begin welcoming passengers in 2023. For further information click here and for tunnelbuilder archive here.
