Gautrain tunnels nearly complete Gautrain has reported that more than 90% of the 15 km tunnel along the 80 km link between Tshwane and the OR Tambo International Airport has been completed. The underground section is from Johannesburg Park station, beneath Johannesburg hospital, Parktown Ridge, Rosebank, Sandton and Marlboro, to the Marlboro portal. The 3 km-long TBM section between Park and Rosebank stations has been completed, while drill/blast is continuing at various sites. The TBM back-up system, comprising 13 gantry trailers, mechanical and electrical components, and support equipment is being recovered and reconditioned. Project completion is due 2011.
