China Tunnel Summit 2008The Millennium Hongqiao Hotel in Shanghai will host the China Tunnel Summit 2008 on 20th and 21st March, 2008. The summit will bring together scholars, senior experts and prominent professionals with rich practical experience in the field of tunnelling to evaluate the past, analyse the present and forecast the future trend of the industry. The summit establishes a platform for all the participants to communicate and exchange experience.The overall theme for this summit is safety construction and operation. This theme was chosen to encourage all the speakers and delegates to realise the importance of safety in tunnel design, construction, operation and management. The key issues of this summit will cover the leading topics in the industry today and be presented under five sub themes: advanced design concept which meets the needs of tunnel safety; application of advanced technologies and equipment in geographical survey and tunnel construction; ventilation and disaster prevention systems in tunnel projects; operation and management of road tunnels; and research and experiences in domestic and overseas tunnel projects.
