PowerGrid, a subsidiary of Singapore Power, plans to drive power tunnels at around 50 m depth to connect power stations west of the island to consumers in east. Valued at S$66 million, work on the project will commence in May 2003 and the tunnel is scheduled for completion by the end of July 2005.
