Metro

The temporary joint venture (RTI) comprising Webuild SpA, Eteria Consorzio Stabile Scarl, Costruire SpA, ICM SpA and MN–Metropolitana di Napoli SpA has been awarded the EUR 660 million contract for the executive design and construction of the civil works (Lot 1) of Naples Metro Line 10, to be delivered in phases. The contract includes the construction of an initial 6.5‑km section (Phase 1A) and grants exclusive rights to carry out additional works—pending financing—up to a total value exceeding EUR 1.7 billion for the future completion of the line.

A second RTI, comprising CAF – Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles SA, Leonardo SpA, MermecSTE Srl, AET Srl and Francesco Ventura Costruzioni Srl, has been awarded the EUR 540 million contract for design, technological systems and rolling stock (Lot 2) for Line 10.

Initial funding amounts to EUR 1.2 billion, of which EUR 870 million is allocated to the Municipality of Naples and EUR 330 million is provided by the Campania Region under the POR FESR 2021–2027 programme, within a broader EUR 3.1 billion project.

Line 10 will extend approximately 14 km from the Napoli‑Afragola High‑Speed Station to Principe Umberto Station, almost entirely underground, with tunnels excavated partly using traditional methods and partly with TBMs. Phase 1A will cross the municipalities of Afragola, Casoria, Casavatore and Naples, with seven stations: three to be fully built (Di Vittorio, Casoria Centro, Afragola) and four to be partially built in this first phase (Casavatore San Pietro, Casoria Casavatore, Casoria Afragola, Afragola Garibaldi). Completion of the line will add a further 7.3 km and five stations, finish the four partially built stations, and include additional works such as a new park‑and‑ride facility serving the Napoli‑Afragola High‑Speed Station.

The 12 stations planned for the full project will be built with measures to minimise urban impact, with structures reaching depths of up to 45 m and tunnels with an internal diameter of 8.6 m.

Line 10 will become a key new component of Naples’ public transport system, providing new interchange nodes with Metro Lines 1, 2 and 11 and with the Circumvesuviana railway.
