The Metro C Consortium, led by Webuild and Vianini Lavori, has been awarded the EUR 776 million contract for the design and construction of the new T1 Section between Clodio/Mazzini and Farnesina on Rome Metro Line C. The T1 Section will be delivered in an integrated manner with Section T2, for which the executive design is underway and which also includes a first crossing beneath the River Tiber.
Awarding Section T1 to the same consortium will allow a single mechanised excavation from Farnesina to Piazza Venezia, avoiding operational fragmentation. In parallel, works at Venezia station are progressing as part of Phase 2 of construction.
Line C will extend 29 km with 31 stations, from the eastern terminus at Monte Compatri/Pantano to Farnesina. To date, 24 stations have been completed from the eastern terminus to Colosseo/Fori Imperiali in the historic centre.
