India has initiated the process of constructing the 1,000 MW (4 x 250 MW) Pakal Dul (Drangdhuran) hydroelectric plant in District Kishtwar with an invitation of Bids (International Competitive Bidding). It is a reservoir-based scheme proposed on river Marusudar, the main right bank tributary of river Chenab in the Kishtwar district. The Pakaldul project will have the capacity to regulate the water flows in Chenab as a 16 km-long diversion tunnel is to be constructed under the design.

The deadline of submission of stage I bid (Bid Security, Qualification Particulars and Techno-commercial Bids) - for the interested bidders who meet the qualification criteria at the end of June 2013 - is postponed from 23.08.2013 to 05.10.2013.

The deadline of submission of Stage II Bid (Price Bids) for all those bidders who meet the qualification criteria and whose Techno-Commercial proposals for the subject works are found responsive is 30.10.2013.

The work under the Contract shall have to be completed within 66 months from the date of issue of Letter of Acceptance and Defect Liability period of 24 months shall commence after completion/commissioning of works.
