Third International Conference on Traffic and Safety in Road Tunnels to be Held in MayThe 3rd International Conference on Traffic and Safety in Road Tunnels - Developments and Trends in Equipment and Operation will be held in Hamburg, Germany from 18th to 20th May. The event addresses everyone who wants to learn more about safety in modern tunnels and to use this international platform for the exchange of experience on a high level. Experts from Japan, Taiwan, the US, Switzerland and the EU will be presenting the results of the latest research and experiences on new traffic and safety equipment. Interesting contributions are expected on the latest developments regarding tunnel control centres and incident management, the interface between tunnel operation and traffic control, and the traffic in four-tube tunnels. On the second day of the conference, information will be provided on international and EU guidelines and their implementation at national level as well as on the modernisation of the tunnel operation equipment. Some speakers will report on their safety-related experience and new safety installations as a basis for lively discussions. In an accompanying exhibition, selected companies from the tunnelling sector will present their services and most recent tunnel equipment products. An excursion to Luebeck will close the conferences, with a visit to the Herren tunnel, a toll tunnel to be opened in autumn 2005.HB-Verkehrsconsult (HBVC), part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group, is organising the conference.
