NFM Technologies Wins Contract for 2 TBMs for Road Tunnel in Wuhan, ChinaNFM Technologies, part of the Wirth group, has been awarded a contract by the China Railway Tunnel Group for the design, manufacture and commissioning of two 11.38 m-diameter tunnelling machines of the mud pressure Benton’air® type.These two machines will be used to dig a twin-tube tunnel over a length of 2,400 m. The route of the tunnel is between the two main bridges over the Yangtze river in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province.It should be open to traffic in 2008 and become a major route linking the two parts of the city, the historical Wuchang centre and the Hankou business district. The studies and parts of the tunnelling machine equipment will be made by NFM Technologies. Certain components will be produced and assembled in China by their partner Shenyang Heavy Machinery Group.
