Jacobs Engineering Group has been awarded a contract by Washington State Department of Transport WSDOT to provide design services for fire and life safety systems improvement in the Interstate 90 Mount Baker and Mercer Island tunnels. Along with the revision of fire detection and suppression, ventilation, emergency egress, intelligent transportation and illumination systems, the design effort will also focus on provision of High Occupancy Vehicle HOV lanes and preparation for future extension of the light rail between Seattle and Bellevue/Redmond.
