Drainage Services Department HARBOUR AREA TREATMENT SCHEME - STAGE 2ACONSTRUCTION OF SEWAGE TUNNELS CONTRACTOR FORUM The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is undertaking the implementation of the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme Stage 2A which involves construction of around 19 km of sewage tunnels with maximum finished diameter of 3m and 15 number associated vertical shafts. The tunnels are to be constructed mainly in granitic and volcanic rock at depth of up to around 160m below sea level using the drill-and-blast method. The construction works will be covered under 2 contracts and tenders will be invited by around late 2008.A contractor forum will be held to give interested parties general information about the project.
