Grand Paris Express – Line 15 Updates

First TBM for Line 15 West delivered - On May 28, 2025, Herrenknecht finished the first TBM EPB for the Intencites15 consortium, led by VINCI Construction Grands Projets, and the Societe des Grands Projets.  The TBM is 110 m long, 1,700 t in weight, has a 9.87 m diameter shield and 136 cutting edges. It will be involved in the construction of Line 15 West  excavation for the Grand Paris Express. 

The TBM will now be dismantled and transported to Nanterre La Folie from where - in November 2025, once reassembled - it will begin excavating the 8.3 km of tunnel towards Courbevoie, passing through La Defense. In Courbevoie it will be dismantled, taken back to Nanterre from where it will restart towards Rueil-Malmaison.

 In the meantime, a second TBM is under construction that will excavate the remaining 5.1 km of tunnel between Sevres and Rueil-Malmaison.

 The Intencites15 consortium won the EUR 2.71 billion contract in 2023 to build line 15 West between the Pont de Sevres and La Defense stations. 

 

The first TBM for line 15 East has arrived on site!

The delivery of the S-1422 TBM, the first for line 15 East of the Grand Paris Express project, began on May 26 at the Agnes shaft at the Aubervilliers construction site.

The TBM manufactured by Herrenknecht will be assembled by the IRIS consortium, led by Bouygues Travaux Publics, and will excavate 5.5 km of tunnel towards the Normandie Niémen facility in Bobigny.

 In May 2024, the IRIS consortium was awarded the contract for the construction of the section between Saint-Denis - Pleyel and the Drancy – Bobigny station of Line 15 East. The contract includes the excavation of a tunnel of approximately 5.5 km, the upgrading of 2.5 km of existing tunnel, the construction of four new service structures, the upgrading of three existing service structures, the construction of four new stations (Stade de France, Mairie d’Aubervilliers, Fort d’Aubervilliers and Drancy-Bobigny) along with upgrading work at the Saint-Denis-Pleyel station.
