The tunnels form part of the Vipava-Podnanos-Razdrto section on the highway connecting Ljubljana to Nova Gorica, at the Italian border. The Barnica tunnel has a total length of 588.77 m (west tube 284.7 m and east tube 305.4 m). The Tabor tunnel has a total length of 1,202.6 m (west tube 588.8 m and east tube 613.8 m).
