They submitted a bid of EUR79.4 million.The project includes the design and construction of a 303 m-long double-track tunnel, starting from Fleming shaft and ending at Peristeri station, a 28 m-long double-track tunnel section, from Peristeri station to the west ventilation shaft at Peristeri station, to be constructed using the cut-and-cover method and a 450 m-long tunnel from the north end of Anthoupoli station. The two longer tunnels will be built by conventional methods.Peristeri station will be constructed using the cut-and-cover method (70%) along Panagi Tsaldari Avenue and underground boring methods (30%) to mitigate disturbance to vehicular traffic. Anthoupoli station will be constructed using the cut-and-cover method underneath Anapafseos Street. The station will be constructed to enable further extensions both towards Aghios Ierotheos, Petroupoli and Liossia. Construction will commence in June and the extension will be completed in the end of 2008. The JV J&P AVAX, Ghella and Alstom Transport signed the EUR344 million contract for the 7.6 km extension of Line 3 of the Athens metro from Aghia Marina to Piraeus, including six new stations. Attiko Metro has announced that three bidders were shortlisted for 12.8km Alsos Veikou to Goudi section on the Athens metro Line 4: TVS (Tepna AE – Vinci – Siemens AG); J+P Avax Ae – Ghella SpA – Alstom Transport SA; Aktor Ate– Ansaldo STP SpA – Hitachi Rail Italy SpA.

The candidate contractors are invited to submit their technical and financial offers by 10.12.2018.

The project’s budget has risen to EUR1.51 bn and its construction is estimated to take 8 years.

The Alsos Veikou - Goudi section (Section A of Metro Line 4) crosses Athens, Galatsi, Kessariani and Zografou municipalities and will have a total length of 12.8 km, with 15 underground stations. The ΑVAX SA – Ghella SpA– Alstom Transport SA consortium, led by AVAX, has been declared provisional lowest bidder for the construction of the first phase of Line 4 of the Athens Metro, more specifically the Alsos Veikou – Goudi section,  offering a discount of 12.19%. The project, budgeted at EUR1.8 billion, is the largest infrastructure project currently planned in the European Union and will radically change commuting in the Athens metropolitan area. Elleniko Metro SA/Attiko Metro SA awarded the EUR249,93 million contract for Operation and Maintenance of Thessaloniki Metro Network to THEMA Consortium which includes   ATM S.p.A. (51%) and  Egis Projects S.A.S.(49%) . Duration of the contract will be 11 years.  

The scope of the Tender is the operation of the Thessaloniki Metro in two stages: 

  • The first stage includes the operation of the Base Line, which starts from the northwest side of the city in the NEW RAILWAY STATION, located in front of OSE (Hellenic Railways Organization), continues up to NEA ELVETIA terminal station at the southeastern side of the city, and terminates in Pylea Depot. The line follows mainly Monastiriou, Egnatia, KonstantinouKaramanli, Delfon and Solonos Streets. The Base Line comprises two single-track tunnels and 13 stations ( NEW RAILWAY STATION, DIMOKRATIAS, VENIZELOU, AGIAS SOFIAS, SINTRIVANI, PANEPISTIMIO, PAPAFI, EFKLIDIS, FLEMING, ANALIPSI, 25 MARTIOU, VOULGARI, NEA ELVETIA).  
  • The second stage involves the operation of the Thessaloniki Metro extension to Kalamaria with the following stations NOMARCHIA, KALAMARIA, ARETSOU, NEA KRINI, MIKRA.  

The scope of works includes the daily operation and maintenance of the facilities, systems and rolling stock, cleaning services, security services (safety – protection), the management of the Automatic Fare Collection system, as well as the installation and operation of the IT-ERP system to support the administrative operation of Thessaloniki Metro.

Motorway

668 km-long dual carriageway across northern Greece forming part of Trans European Roadway and including 70 tunnels, mainly in the Pindos mountains in a variety of rock mass conditions ranging from massive limestones and sandstones to clay schists. Design and construction responsibility lies with Egnatia Odos AE, a company set up by the Greek government. Brown & Root, project managers; construction managers for the three sections are: Sogelerg/Omec/Lahmeyer; De Leuw Cather; Egnaconsult/Dorsconsult/Scetauroute/ADO. Completion for 2001. Will be hugely picturesque. March 1999.   Joint venture of Sarantopoulos, Attikat, J & P and Teck awarded contract to build Polymilos-Lefkopetra section of motorway with nine tunnels. November 1999.   Greek jv Aktor SA has placed a $12 million order on Sandvik Tamrock Corporation for 24 units of drillrigs, loaders and trucks to be used mainly on the Egnatia highway. At Dodoni work is from the east portals where the right hand tube has advanced 170 m. At Veria, the left hand tube from the south portal of the first tunnel has advanced a cautious 40 m in 60% phyllite which disintegrates on contact with water. The Board of Directors of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) decided that seven investment schemes are prequalified to participate in phase B of the tender for the Egnatia Odos motorway (in alphabetical order):

5. Roadis Transportation Holding S.L.U. – Aktor Concessions Sa

6. Sichuan Communications Investment Group Co Ltd – Damco Energy Sa

7. Vinci Highways Sas – Vinci Concessions Sas – Mytilineos Holdings Sa

The award of the services concession contract for the financing, operation, maintenance and commercial exploitation of Egnatia Odos and three vertical axes to the Preferred Investor is for a maximum period of up to 40 years.

Egnatia Odos is a motorway that has been already built and in operation, with a fully controlled access dual carriageway facility, 658 km long, stretching from Igoumenitsa in the Prefecture of Thesprotia (north-west coast of Greece), to Kipi in the Prefecture of Evros (at the border with Turkey). The three vertical road axes, 225 km long in total, are fully controlled access facilities that link the Egnatia Odos with the neighboring countries (Albania, the FYROM and Bulgaria).
