On 26.07.2013 the Robbins EPB, named Mom Chung, started digging, kicking off construction of San Francisco’s new subway tunnel. Over the next ten months the TBM will construct the southbound T Third Line tunnel for the Central Subway, opening in 2019.The second Robbins EPB, named Big Alma and identical twin of Mom Chung, has arrived in San Francisco and, after about two months of assembly, will begin the parallel tunnel, extending the Muni Metro T Third Line through SoMa, Union Square and Chinatown.
