The New South Wales Government awarded to the Joint Venture Ghella and CIMIC Group’s CPB Contractors the EUR 1.15 bn (AUD 1.8 bn) contract for the Sydney Metro-Western Sydney Airport Station Boxes and Tunnelling Works. The WSA-SBT contract includes the design and construction of 9.8 km twin tunnels and excavations for 6 stations at St Marys, Orchard Hills, Luddenham, Airport Business Park, Airport Terminal and Aerotropolis on the 23 km metro railway running from St Mary’s through to the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport and the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.  

Major work will start in the coming months for site establishment and preparatory works for tunnelling to get underway in early 2023.
