Line 1 is under construction from south to north across the city and is planned for 23 km and 21 stations. Southern section to city centre is complete and in operation, and another section connecting with the Swietokrzyska and Ratusz stations is due to open soon. Hydrobudowa-6 SA, the Polish affiliate of Bilfinger & Berger reports that it has constructed six of the 12 stations completed to date, together with two tunnel sections and a depot. Lines 2 & 3 are planned to be shield driven. When completed, the network will have a route length of 70 km with 70 stations. Contact through www.bub.de February 2000.

The JV Astaldi (45 percent)/ PBIDM (Poland)/Gulermak (Turkey) signed the EUR800 million contract for the construction of the central section of Warsaw metro Line 2. The new 6.7 km-long section, from Rondo Daszynskiego to Dwarzec Wilenski, including seven stations and a river crossing, will be built using three TBMs. Visit www.astaldi.it. 15/13.
The Astaldi Group has been awarded a EUR 209 million contract to extend Line 2 of the Warsaw metro. The contract includes the design and the construction of the 3km route’s eastern section, from the Dworzec Wileński Station to the stabling tracks past Station C-18, featuring twin-tube tunnels and 3 underground stations. The tunnels will be excavated using the two TBMs that have already been employed for the first section of the line. The contract also calls for building the link with the line’s central section, as well as the civil and railway systems, superstructure, and all related works. The works are planned to be completed in 36 months, beginning in early 2016.
The works are commissioned by Metro Warszawskie Sp.z o.o., the public company in charge of the operations of the underground in the Polish city on behalf of the Municipality of Warsaw. The Municipality of Warsaw received two tenders for the EUR310 million contract for the extension works of metro Line 2 in Warsaw. The first ranked is the JV Astaldi (50%)/Gulermak (50%) and the second ranked is Sinohydro Corporation Ltd from Beijing.
The bid calls for designing and building the 4 km western underground Section 3 of metro Line 2 in Warsaw from the C04 station to the Mory (STP) technical station (workshop/depot). The section will include three stations, the technical station and a parking, Duration of the works will be 4-years.
